Technical Design

Set of instructions created to communicate individual fabric handling requirements, machine settings, sewing instructions and finished measurements

Why design technically with UDS

Clients benefit from having one team handling technical design as part of product development while being fully knowledgeable of the resources available at our factory to eventually produce the item in the most efficient way possible

Technical Design instructions may include details about:

* What fabric and trim will be used for each style
* What fabric to be used for each pattern piece
* What operations (machines) are required for the assembly of each garment
* What machine settings are required to achieve the best stitch possible

Processing Time
1 - 3 weeks depending on amount and quality of information available to start with

We use
Adobe Illustrator to sketch all details of each style such as:

Base Size Technical Specification
Created to sew prototypes based on first pattern measurements
This is the stage where construction has been visualized for sewing operators and machine settings are put together together as the first part of a plan of action to execute the sample (prototype):
* Design and Construction Details
* Trim Placements and Specifications
* Pattern Assembly Details (including machine requirements)
* Garment Dimensions (once approved for fit)
Production Specification, Technical Package, Tech Pack

Production Graded Technical Specification
Once the Base Size sample has been approved for fit and construction, additional information regarding grading and pre-production will be documented:
* Design and Construction Details
* Trim Placements and Specifications
* Pattern Assembly Details (including machine requirements)
* Garment Dimensions for each size (after grading
* Target Marker Yield (based on approved sample yield)

Technical Design Price

Technical Design Estimates

Due to the great number of variables, every development project is priced on an individual basis and written estimates are prepared once we know the specific details of each garment to be developed:

* What fabric and trim will be used for each style
* How many pattern pieces each garment style requires
* How long will it take for client to approve technical concepts
* What operations (machines) are required for the assembly of each garment

Technical Design Price Calculator

If you want to get an idea of how much to budget, our price calculator is available to get possible price ranges for different configurations of services
In order to get the most out of the price calculator, you'll need this information readily available:

* Technical Sketch - Number of hours allocated per style
* Base Size Specification - How many measurement points per garment and complexity of each style
* Graded Specification - Number of sizes and complexity of each style
